Had a fun session with Josh Lackey today. Josh has always been easily one of my favourite people with which to hack. He's got such a positive vibe about him -- always smiling and ENJOYING footbag. Also, he is my age, so it is nice to be able to relate in terms of where we are and where we can go in footbag, being of an older generation.
He came all the way out to Ajax where I live to hack one-on-one, which I really appreciated, as commuting to downtown Toronto gets really expensive, and for a couple of weeks there I was doing it almost every second day for various things. We drove out a bit to the Pickering beach, which I found on my waterfront trail bike rides, and is really gorgeous, with PERFECT temperature waters.
Anyway, whatever.
Overall it was really fun, even though I seem to be really adversed to attempting actual runs. I don't know why. I get distracted so easily. The weird thing is that my longer runs would either be basically bail-a-licious, or.. like really, extreme hardcore. No middle-ground. I feel like I'm boring myself.
Highlights:
-
vortex > spinning reverse whirl BSOS (prolly never BSOSed this before. I don't know how vortex came to me so easily, suddenly. I seriously have trouble linking 2 drifters...)
-
spinning ducking mirage > atomic reverse whirl-
20 ripwalks > blurriest attempt, first try, after "calling it" (as my final combo of the session)
-
mobius > pdx blender again (feels sooo good!)
And we also set challenges for ourselves, like, 20 guiltless, 30 guiltless, etcetera. That was really fun. That was mostly since I was sucking so bad at actual runs. I'm loving vortex. No hip pain either.
Oh yeah, and then almost the best part was going for a brief swim in the lake after. That was refreshing! And then I showed him some stitching stuff and gave him some supplies to start his first bag. We traced some panels, which felt really weird since I haven't in... well, close to a year. I made a bag for Allan Haggett back in.. November-ish, and before then it had been about half a year..
Anyway, it was great to hang with Josh. Fun.
