I just moved to the Toronto area this week with my woman. Wicked.

I still haven't really played in a year due to back pain. I've had a few here and there, but I won't count anything. At my last Hackrifice session, a week ago this past Monday, Andrew gave me a few tips for my back pain with all of his athletic therapy knowledge, and just the one tip of tilting my pelvis up instead of letting it tilt forward, has really been helping!

Today I had my third session in a row, pain-free (aside from the kinks from having not played for so long, and getting out of shape in general!) at my new address. I worked on some basic tiltless drills, and then getting my downtime components and basic sets back to snuff. It's been really exciting, though surely not to anyone but myself. Here were some highlights (note: each thing is just, single trick to hand catch.. nothing special at all):
-5 smears (both sides)
-5 legbeaters (both sides)
-5 stepping same clippers (both sides)

-5 paradons (both sides)
-5 reverse swirls (both sides)
-5 drifters (both sides)
-3 eggbeaters (both sides) <-- didn't wanna aggravate my back, and it felt like I might've if I'd pushed

I stopped the session on that note.
Though I did decide to start doing One-Shots to gauge my progress. I'll upload some.. time. Probably by the time I do the next one. I'm going to take the weekend off to let my poor, out-of-shape body rest.

I was averaging pretty good run length, which was nice. Though I can't yet throw anything of note. The highlight of my session was DEFINITELY 3 separate occurrences of large groups of high school kids walking by and being crazy impressed. It really boosted my non-existent self esteem. The first group was the biggest, maybe 7-10 kids, some on bikes, and they yelled amongst themselves, "No way! That's so sick! Awesome" kinda stuff. Then the second was, like, 2 black kids in their hip gear, and they called out, "You're awesome at hacky sack!" and I said thanks in the middle of a.. 50-some-contact run? Then a small group of girls, and one guy?, "I wish I could do that! I spend all day playing basketball, but look at this!!" :D

That was long.
That's what she said.
There is a reignited flame!
California in t-minus 7 days! I hope I can get in some semblance of shape by then.
Wish me luck (in the absence of back pain)!
