Well I finally more or less finished revamping the website. Man alive. I never thought I would do it in, like, a day! I kind of pictured myself getting into it for a few days and then having it peter (I've never written that word before -- I was always sure it would be either "peeter" or "peater"...weird) off over the course of a month. But wow, I just marathoned it. I decided, like, the other day basically that I wanted to do this, get us blogging on the website and revamp the look and I just...did it. And worked on it non-stop, basically for 26 hours actually (minus 4 hours nap). Hardcore.
There are some really annoying glitches and things that I have to touch up, but overall 'm quite happy. Some things that concern me are:
1) The issue I mentioned on the main page (not the blog) about text and objects shifting; it just makes the site look dumb when things should always be in the exact same place.
2) Background image on the bottom left pretty badly obscures the text on top of it
3) Tutorials and Videos sections are kinda boring. I have ideas for Videos, but not so much for Tutorials at the moment.
4) I have, like, 4-8 hours' worth of work left to do on the Videos section, linking up all of my hundreds of shred videos from .org. It's such a pain that I never even finished it on the old site (after I decided to link ALL Hackrifice vids from the site). 2002-2004 is the most intense video period in Hackrifice history. Each year has, like, what, 50+ videos? that I have to get info on and enter manually and edit up. Bleh! It will be awesome and satisfying when I'm done though.
The last post was actually copied and pasted from my last blog entry on Modified. I'm kind of glad I copied it, first because it's really lengthy with lots of the regular types of things I footblog about, so I can see how I will have to play with formatting when I make entries here as opposed to there. It was also a kind of significant entry. So Yay. Blogging here will be really, really different. I've almost completely lost my interest in finishing my Worlds '08 write-up. I think I will, so that I can read it in later years, but ideally I wish I could take all of my Modified blog entries and archive them somewhere accessible through my blog here... Maybe I will work on that in the future. I'm so tired, and I'm finally gonna get some food and sleep. Yes!
Oh, something neat happened today. My dad is kinda famous in the education world, locally anyway. He was at a board meeting and the principal of a school came up to him and said she wanted to interview him about having me work for her (potentially as the library clerk [again]!) This is really cool, because I don't know this woman, and she doesn't know me. But my dad says that I have a really good reputation in the School Division. So, man alive. Like, I don't even have to do anything. I don't have to interview or follow up or anything; she's going to contact ME. Hahaha. Well, the library clerk would be my dream job (as per last school year), but if this comes to fruition, the school secretary could potentially take the library clerk position, and I would be the school secretary. Another cool thing is that it's a school a block away from Manna's school, so... lunch-hour shred?
